We are now launching our Dog Guardian Program new for 2026. This program will ensure that our special breeding dogs (who will carry the purebred/well bred Border Collie into the future) get to live with their forever family from an earlier age. The guardian family will receive a high quality well bred dog at no cost and will allows us to maintain our breeding lines while the dogs enjoy the benefit of living in a family home.
How It Works:
Ownership: The breeder retains legal ownership of the dog until the agreement has been satisfied and the dog has completed its breeding career (an agreed number of litters/age,) Upon completion the legal ownership will be transferred to the Guardian.
Placement:
The dog will live full time with the guardian family, who will provide day to day care, training, socialization and love just like any other pet.
Breeding Terms:
Once the dog reaches maturity and has passed the breeders requirements for health testing, the breeder will arrange the breeding and whelping (for females) and stud use (for males)
- Females will return to the breeder for breeding (couple of days) and then again to whelp and raise their puppies
- Males will be used to breed to females, either at the guardians home or at the kennel
Expenses:
- Guardian family pays for standard care such as food, grooming, routine vet visits, training etc.
- Breeder pays for breeding related costs such as health testing, reproductive care and any costs related to the litter. The breeder retains full rights to the litter produced.
Requirements For The Guardian Family:
- Live within 3 hours of the kennel
- Provide a stable, loving and safe environment
- Keep the dog in good health and stay in contact with the breeder
- Follow certain care and breeding related guidelines.
After the Breeding Career:
Once the breeding agreement is fulfilled the breeder will transfer full legal ownership to the guardian family and the dog remains permanently with the family as their pet for the rest of its life.
